Katharina MAGIERA


 

During her music teaching studies at the Music Conservatory of Mannheim Katharina Magiera replaced her main instrument piano by singing and started her vocal training with professor Vera U.G. Scherr. Since 2003 she continued her studies with Professor Hedwig Fassbender at the Music Conservatory of Frankfurt and professor Rudolf Piernay at the Music Conservatory of Mannheim. She visited masterclasses of R. Piernay, H.P.Blochwitz, Ingeborg Danz, Ch. Prégardien.

She had a scholarship of the "Villa musica”, is member of the Yehudi Menuhin "Live music now” program for young artists and  Awardee of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes which supports talented students.  In 2009, she won the first prize of the Mendelssohn Competition in Frankfurt.

In 2005 she was broadcasting German art songs of H. Wolf and F. Schubert on SWR. Her concert repertoire includes all passions, oratorios many motets and cantatas of. J. S. Bach, Requiem composed by M. Duruflé, A. Dvorák, A. Schnittke, as well as W. A. Mozart, that she performed on stage of the Oper Frankfurt. She was also seen in concert with Stabat Mater of Pergolesi and Haydn, Messiah and Jephtha of Händel, Elias of Mandelssohn and numerous compositions of Reger, Rheinberger, Weber, de Falla and Monteverdi.

Katharina Magiera worked under the direction of conductors such as P. Carignani, G.Garrido, S. Weigle, M. Letonja, H. Rilling.

As a guest artist she sang at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden in "Purcells Traum von König Artus” Purcells arias from "Indian Queen” and songs from "Orpheus Britannicus” accorded to the libretto of Tankred  Dorst. In Oper Frankfurt she was seen as Venus in Monteverdi „Ballo dell’Ingrate", Amor and Melanto in „Il ritorno d‘ Ulisse in patria", Proserpina and  Messagiera in „L’Orfeo", the third Dame in Mozart " Zauberflöte”, Lehrbube in Wagners "Meistersinger von Nürnberg” Zofe in Zelinsky " Der Zwerg”, Dunjasha in Rimskij- Korsakov „ Tsars’ bride".

In 2008 l’ Opéra national du Rhin in Strasbourg engaged her as Schwertleite in Wagners " Walküre” . 

Since 2008/2009, Katharina Magiera is member of the international "Ensemble” of Oper Frankfurt where she sang Alisa / Lucia di Lammermoor, Carmela / La Vida Breve, La Maestra delle Novizie / Suor Angelica, Orpheus / Orpheus und Euridike, Tisbe / La Cenerentola, 1. Magd / Elektra, Hua-Qui / L’Oracolo de F.Leoni, Bradamante / Orlando Furioso -Vivaldi, Pantalis / Mefistofele- Boïto, Eine Stimme von oben / Die Frau ohne Schatten, Ein Blumenmädchen / Parsifal, Flosshilde / Das Rheingold, Schwertleite / Die Walküre, Cornelia / Giulio Cesare, Flosshilde / Die Götterdämmerung…
