Björn BÜRGER


At the young age of sixteen, baritone Björn Bürger gained recognition in his hometown, Rodgau, Germany for his talent in singing, theater and piano. He is currently studying opera at the School of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main with Hedwig Fassbender.
In productions with the school, Björn has sung the major role of Argante in Handel’s Rinaldo as well as Osmin in Mozart’s Zaidein different theaters within Hassia and at the Handel Festival in Karlsruhe. 
In 2010, Björn sang the leading role of Victor Hugo in the world premiere of Wagner’s A Capitulation at the Young Artist’s Festival in Bayreuth. Last summer Björn was heard as Papageno in a children’s version of „The Magic Flute" at the Bad Vilbel Castle Festival. 

He is a stipendiary of the Da Ponte Endowment and is also supported by the Life Music Now fund. In 2011, Björn was awarded the Main Campus Academicus Scholarship of the Polytechnical Society of Frankfurt am Main. Björn is currently singing Dr. Falke in Johann Strauß’s „The Bat" at the Frankfurt Opera as a part of its children’s opera series. 
Björn will join the Frankurt Opera ensemble in the 2013/14 season.
