Renée Morloc has sung in major opera houses all over the globe. She has
been heard in the opera houses of Helsinki, Hamburg, Kassel, Munich, and Nancy.
She has been heard as Waltraute in the opera houses of Berlin (DOB) and Prague
(Narodny Divadlo). She has sung Cornelia in Guilio
Cesare in Bern. In Dresden, she has sung Orfeo (Gluck). Under the baton of
Christoph Thielemann, she has sung Mary in Holländerin Tokyo. She has also sung Larina (Onegin)
at the Salzburg Festival in a production conducted by Daniel Barenboim. Renée Morloc’s upcoming engagements include Kabanica in Katia Kabanova, Herodias in Salome, La Première Prieure in Dialogues des Carmélites, Fricka in Die Walküre, Ulrica in Un Ballo in Maschera in Düsseldorf, Mrs.
Quickly in Falstaff in Lisbonne, and
Auntie in Peter Grimes at the Paris
Opera. During the 2011-12 season, she sang Jezibaba in Rusalka in Montpellier and Brussels, Richard III by Battistelli in Geneva, Klytämnestra in Elektra in Stuttgart. During the 2010-11 season, she sang Herodias
in Salome and Zita Principessa in Suor Angelica. She was also heard as
Frugola in Il Trittico in Düsseldorf,
Kabanica in Bruxelles, In 2009, she sang a wide variety of roles including Jezibaba, Fricka in Walküre, Walraute in Die Götterdämmerung, Kabanica in Katia Kabanova, Zia Principessa – Zita -
Frugola in Il Trittico. In 2008, she sang Ulrica, Kabanica, and Amme in Die Frau Schatten. An in-demand singer for the concert hall, she performed with many
renowned orchestras such as Bayerischer Rundfunk, Münchner Philharmoniker, RSO
Berlin, DSO Berlin, Bamberger Symphoniker, Hamburger Symphoniker, MDR Symphony
Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic, Czech. Philharmonic, Orquesta sinfónica de
Galicia, Orquesta Nacional de Espana Madrid, and Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. Her concert repertoire includes Gustav Mahler’s Lied von der Erde, 2nd, 3rd, and 8thSymphony, Kindertotenlieder, and Rückert-Lieder. She also sings the alto soloist in Bernstein’s Jeremiah Symphony, the requiems of Ligeti and Verdi, and an array of contemporary concert repertoire.
In addition to having sung at the Salzburg Festival, she also has sung
in the Donaueschinger Musiktage, Warschauer Herbst, Budapester Frühling,
Salzburg Mozartwochen, Berliner Festwochen, and the Ludwigsburger
Schlossfestspiele, among others. Morloc first studied viola and German philosophy in Stuttgart and Paris.
Afterwards she began vocal study with Georg Jelden and Garce Hofffman in
Stuttgart. At the Salzburg Mozarteum she continued to study opera and attended
a master class with Christa Ludwig. From 1990 to 1992 she was a member of Mannheim Nationaltheater, where
debuted in roles such as with Erda in Siegfried,
Fricka in Walküre, Ulrica in Un Ballo and Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica. From 1992 to 1996 she was
a member of the Hannover State Opera, singing the roles Amme in Die Frau ohne Schatten, Kabanicha in Katja Kabanova, Herodias in Salome Carmen, and Klytämnestra in Elektra. Since 1996 she has regularly
sung in Düsseldorf with roles such as Ulrica, Azucena in Il Trovatore, Amneris, Mrs. Quickly (Falstaff), Brangäne, Fricka, Erda, Waltraute, Zia Principessa, Zita, Frugola, and Geschwitz
in Lulu. Renée Morloc has recorded the recital Zigeunerlieder, a collection of songs from various composers such as Wolf, Brahms, Liszt, Schumann, Nagy, Busoni, and others. The recording is an ARS- production.
